The new Pax 3 is all the hype right now in the vape industry.... but is it worth the price tag? You might be surprised by our thoughts. Lets review.
The all new Pax 3 boasts an impressive arsenal comprising of improved heating time, a new BLE connected app, and concentrate support.
This allows you to vape anywhere on earth (where marijuana is legal) in discretion, without having to sacrifice any features or vapor production. This is and has always been something we love out the Pax model vapes (they are sneaky).
The Build of the Pax 3
In many ways, the Pax 3 is identical to the Pax 2. Though it is difficult to suggest an object which is of similar size but the best way to describe the vaporizer would be to say that it easily fits into the palms of your hands, with both ends protruding from each side.
The outer cast is made with aluminium instead of the matte brushed finish of the older model, which certain looks smashing in comparison but one wonders how long it will take before it gets scratched and begins to look a bit worn.
PAX 3 Vaporizer
The Pax 3 really is the epitome of top-shelf vaporizing equipment, with super features and amazing performance.
Beyond that, not many more changes have been made. The functionality of the ends remains the same as one end remains for the use of a mouthpiece while the other end features a magnetic lid, which allows bud to stay placed within the oven.
They have made some adjustments to the oven lid making the Pax 3 with a larger protrusion. This was due to the fact that packed ovens on earlier models produced more vapor, so they increased protrusion size in order to have the same effect without overloading the vaporizer.
One of the biggest problems with the Pax 3 is the fact that it can be a bit tricky to load. To reload you must balance the device on a flat surface while compressing finely grounded material within the oven.
Knocking over your vaporizer would then be headaches as your bud will be spilt all over whatever surface you are using. Unfortunately, this is an issue that has been around since the original Pax and has not been solved by them as yet.
Tips and Hidden Tricks
Unfortunately, the control system of the Pax is not very intuitive as rotations are needed in order change the modes available. For instance, turning the vaporizer within the palm of your hand three times starts something called party mode.
This reduces the temperature in the event of a passing around session to prevent unnecessary burns from happening. The Pax 3 even provides games such as Simon and has multiple different colour changing options.
The Pax 3 uses the same single button control and accelerometer as the previous two designs, including at the front a four-petal RGB LED readout. Thus pressing the button once turns the vaporizer on or off, while the temperature settings will show if you hold the button for a few seconds.
Unlike the Magic Flight Lunch Box or the Firefly 2, the Pax 3 uses conductive heating. This is where a heating element within the walls of the oven heats the vaporizer while your breath inhales the vapor from within the chamber. While vaporizers such as Magic Flight Lunch Box or Firefly 2 creates heat from outside of the bowl, while you use your breath to inhale hot air through the machine.
Luckily for users, the Pax has lip sensors which reduce temperatures within the oven as long as no one is using it, while it has idle features which are activated by placing the vaporizer down.
Heats quicker than previous models
This quickened heating time is one of the most recognised improvements that the Pax 3 has over its predecessors. With heating time of anywhere between 10-20 seconds, it great to see that portables are keeping up with the CO2 cartridge pens.
WARNING: When it comes to the vapor production of the Pax 3, there does seem to be somewhat of a learning curve. A deep, fluent stream of air is needed for optimal vapor inhalation, but the pacing of that breath also needs to be practiced as well. Too fast of a pull and nothing happens, while too slow and the heated vapor could easily get too hot.
Practice makes perfect, and as long as you spend some time getting to learn the machine, it becomes much easier. Just don’t expect to see huge clouds of smoke as a result of using this machine. Instead, puffs are efficient and effective, without losing any flavour in the process.
Biggest Note: A warranty beyond belief
How many gadgets have you ever seen backed by a 10-year warranty? Compared to a few other top vaporizers on the market such as Storz and Bickel’s Crafty covers wear and tear is backed by a two-year warranty. The Firefly 2 is backed by a two-year warranty, meanwhile, The Magic Flight Lunch Box carries a lifetime warranty on their product.
So this 10-year warranty held by the Pax 3 is still quite an extended period of time beyond most vaporizers on the market. Also, it must be noted that these warranties cover events such as heating oven malfunctions but not damage by accident such as falling into a person’s beer.
The Pax 3 really is the epitome of top-shelf vaporizing equipment, with super features and amazing performance but the price point makes us hesitant to recommend it to just anyone.
It has a very slight learning curve, but when passed provides great user experience due to new app installation and improved user interface.
This intuitive vaporizer stands tall when used with dry herb and performs beyond all expectation, by providing improved heating times and strong, clean vapor production. This particular model carries a $280 price tag, which as it stands is the beginning price for all newly released machines by Pax.
If this is not your area of expertise then this may have begun to overwhelm you as it may seem a bit expensive. This is understandable but when in comparison to the Firefly 2 which sell for $329 and Crafty by Storz and Bickel which goes for $300, this is priced competitively.
If your not a day to day user, are looking for a great dry herb vaporizer with a lifetime warranty, but want to spend much less; check out our best buy vape award winner, the KandyPens Miva is a great option as well.

Is Vaping New To You? (background info)
Vaping allows users of marijuana to benefit from the many uses of THC, without exposure to the dangerous side effects of smoke. Whether you are a prescribed medicinal user or a recreational user, these machines allow for the cleanest, purest high possible.
So by sticking around, I will take you through the ins and outs of the cannabis vaping world, also I will supply you with the knowledge needed to make the best possible decision if you are looking to purchase any type vaporizer.
Types Of Vaporizer
When diving into the world of vaporizer the first thing we must do is educate ourselves on the options that are available on the market, which fall into three categories :
These rechargeable vaporizer pens are known to be the most discreet way to consume marijuana. This easily transportable vaporizer usually holds much less weed as compared to other vaporizer, therefore as a drawback, it is subjected to constant refilling. Vaporizer pens have proven to be a hit for medicinal marijuana smokers as ease of use and accessibility requirements are all a part of what they offer
Smaller than a desktop vape but bigger than a vaporizer pen. A portable dry herb vaporizer is what we mostly feature on our homepage still runs on rechargeable batteries similar to the pens, however, some models still run using butane up to this day. Discretion and portability are the two main benefits of portable vaporizers, offering a quality vape on the go. These are best for persons wanting to enjoy marijuana on the go, in discretion but can’t afford to to give up efficiency and effectiveness such as medicinal users.
These are the most powerful of the lot and function by being plugged into an electrical outlet. Also the largest of them all but with awesome attributes to complement their size. Such as being super efficient, therefore allowing you to get the best bang for your buck, while producing the highest quality most flavourful vapor. Awesome for persons vaping from the comfort of their homes.
Different Materials You Can Vape
Also we must take into consideration the different types of materials which can be used within the vaporizer. These are:
Usually used as a replacement for cigarettes, these oils will normally contain nicotine and are best suited to be used within a vaporizer pen.
Used to vape from dried marijuana bud to dried tobacco leaves, these material are best suited to be consumed within either a desktop vaporizer or a portable vaporizer. E pen vaporizers are also available to be used as well with dried herbs.
Wax, shatter etc..
These concentrates are best vaped within a wax pen. Fortunately, though a small number of desktop or portable vaporizer also allow for persons to enjoy the benefits of concentrate.
How Vaporizer Heating Works
Vaporizers fall into two categories, which are either convection or conduction vaporizers. Both having a number of benefits and drawbacks but for now, we should understand what convection and conduction mean then we will go into the benefits and drawbacks of each.
Vaporizers which use this style of heating utilize the process of hot air being released within the heating chamber, thus creating vapor to be inhaled.
This has come with many benefits such as:
The hot air passing through the materials within the chamber provides efficient and effective vapor.
High quality vapor
The process of convection lowers the risk of combustion, while providing a smoother, steadier flow of vapor.
Can prove to be quite costly and can take anywhere up to more than two minutes to produce vapor.
Conduction occurs when the heating element is within the walls of the vaporizer, thus heating by contact.
Benefits of conduction
1). Heats quickly
2). Materials are heated rather quickly allowing for speedy vaping.
3). Cost effective
4). Usually found within many of the cheaper vaporizer models.
Drawbacks of Conduction
2). You face the risk of losing your material due to combustion. As sometimes materials can burn faster than they are vaporized, due to the proximity of the materials to the heating element.
4). It was found that they do leave some materials unutilized, especially when it comes to dried herbs.
